Real Madrid won the La Liga championship last weekend, but the trophy will be given quietly the following weekend, after the round 35 encounter against host Granada.

Jude Bellingham will lift his first league title behind closed doors as Real Madrid refused the notion of celebrating the La Liga title at Granada’s stadium. Carlo Ancelotti’s team was crowned La Liga champions after a 3-0 victory over Cadiz, while Barcelona lost 4-2 to Girona. The Spanish Football Federation is in charge of awarding the trophy. According to the rules, the trophy will be awarded to the champion in the following match, if Real Madrid won the previous round.

According to ESPN, Real Madrid refused to accept the trophy on Granada’s field because they were “reluctant to hold the trophy ceremony away from home”. Instead, the trophy will be presented to Real Madrid in a separate ceremony the following day at the team’s training facility.

Another argument cited by the Spanish media is that Real Madrid does not want to exacerbate Granada’s problems. Granada is currently 11 points away from the safety group, and if they do not win against Real Madrid, they will undoubtedly be demoted. Receiving the title on the pitch of a relegated opponent will not be enjoyable for Real Madrid, and they do not wish to “make enemies” with Granada.

Real Madrid earned its second La Liga title in three seasons during coach Carlo Ancelotti’s second tenure. The entire Real Madrid team remains entirely focused on the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals against Bayern Munich tomorrow morning, May 9. The first leg concluded 2-2, with Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. scoring twice and Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane and Harry Kane scoring.

Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid’s coach, said at a press conference before the match against Bayern Munich: “On Saturday, we were very thrilled to win La Liga. But we must keep our joy under control in order to prepare for this match. La Liga has now been thrown aside. On Thursday, we will consider celebrating.

We aren’t hopeful, but we are enthusiastic. It could have been another fantastic night for us and the fans, but we are not optimistic. Real Madrid is well aware of the problems we may face in our match against Bayern Munich.”

And Jude Bellingham, who joined Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund this summer, is vital to the club’s success. Notably, Borussia Dortmund advanced to the Champions League final after defeating PSG 2-0. Bellingham is set to face their old team in the final. This season, the England international has prospered and advanced his career significantly, scoring 22 goals across all competitions.

When asked about his decision to join Real Madrid, Jude Bellingham said, “I had nice conversations with clubs, including Borussia Dortmund. My family was highly supportive of my decision-making process. That information, because it is tough to take in and absorb information while still playing on weekends or in the Champions League.

I spoke with other teams, but when Real Madrid came, it was a no-brainer. The scale of the club, the project, the prospective plans, and the ability to play with such talented players all drew me in. That’s why I made the decision.”
