NBA talent Jayson Tatum and Boston Celtics teammate Jon Rahm competed in the FedEx St. Jude Championship Pro-Am. Despite his significant golfing experience, this was Tatum’s first PGA TOUR pro-am outing. Tatum claimed he was nervous and couldn’t sleep the night before the game since he knew Rahm would be playing alongside him.
We caught up with Tatum, a 6-foot-11-inch forward, to learn how he prepares his golf bag for his pro-am debut at TPC Southwind in Memphis.
Tatum’s use of extra-large grips is noticeable, as a result of his exceptionally huge hands. Along with a personalized Scotty Cameron TourType SSS putter, nicknamed “Deuce” after his son Jayson Jr., he uses a mixed set of irons, a baby blue Jordan brand golf bag with his “JT” emblem, and, according to his stepfather/caddie, he is still testing new PXG irons. Tatum’s Titleist “Big Deuce” golf ball bears his personal imprint.
