LeBron James, the All-Star forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, recently shared on his podcast “Mind The Game” that TJ McConnell, a former teammate of JJ Redick from the Philadelphia 76ers and currently a backup point guard for the Indiana Pacers, has become one of his favorite active NBA players. McConnell, who went undrafted in 2015 but quickly became a valuable player during the “Process” era with the 76ers, played alongside Redick in Philadelphia from 2017 to 2019 before joining the Pacers in 2019. McConnell’s clutch performances have been crucial for the Pacers in the playoffs, where he’s averaging 10.8 points, 5.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game. He is currently in the final year of a four-year, $33.6 million contract with the Pacers, making it unlikely for the Lakers to acquire him without offering significant assets. However, there is speculation that he and James could potentially become teammates in 2025 when they are both free agents.
