Toni Kroos surprised the football world and those who love him with the announcement of his retirement from his career, through a long letter on his personal page.
The German midfielder’s decision was made in the context that he was still showing impressive performance last season.
Toni Kroos is a significant factor in helping Real Madrid win the La Liga championship and advance to the Champions League final this season.
However, he decided to retire when he was at his peak and EURO 2024 was the last tournament that this 1990-born star attended.
Kroos will bid farewell to Real Madrid after the Champions League final on June 2 at Wembley Stadium (London, England). And what he wants is to win the 15th championship in tournament history with the team.
“July 17, 2014, the day I gave my debut speech for Real Madrid and also the day that changed my life as both a football player and a person. It was the beginning of a new chapter at the club the world’s largest set,Toni Kroos writes.

Real’s homepage also announced a tribute to Kroos, praising him as a part of history and one of the greatest legends in the team’s history.
President Florentino Perez affirmed that Real has and will always be Kroos’s home, and sent wishes to the German midfielder and his family for the new phase of his life.
“Real Madrid announced that Toni Kroos has decided to end his professional career after Euro 2024 ends. Real Madrid would like to express its appreciation for the contributions of Toni Kroos, who has been and will always be an important part of the history of this team, and is one of the greatest legends of Real Madrid as well as world of football,” Real Madrid’s homepage wrote.
Toni Kroos joined Real Madrid in 2014 from Bayern Munich for a fee of about 30 million euros after winning the World Cup with the German Team.
In the past 10 years, he played 463 matches (scoring 28 goals), helping the Spanish Royal Team win 21 big and small titles, including 4 La Liga, 4 Champions League, 5 FIFA Club World Cup, 3 Super Cups. Europe, 1 Spanish King’s Cup, 4 Spanish Super Cups.
Before joining Real Madrid, Toni Kroos also spent five successful months in the Bayern Munich club shirt.
