The Boston Celtics are one game away from becoming Eastern Conference champions after defeating the Indiana Pacers 114-111 last night, and star forward Jayson Tatum had a key role in the victory.
Although Jrue Holiday’s free throws put the game out of reach, Tatum was in prime form, finishing with 36 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists in 44 minutes. He did so in a special edition of the Jordan Tatum 2, his second signature sneaker with Jordan Brand.
Tatum’s camouflage hue, which coincides with Memorial Day weekend, is a PE (player exclusive) version designed for Aerial Powers of the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream. According to industry expert Nick DePaula, the distinctive pair was inspired by Powers’ father, Juan, a sergeant in the military. Powers shared DePaula’s statement on X, thanking Tatum for wearing the PEs.\”This pair means a lot to me! “Pops was the one who placed the ball in my hand,” she wrote.
The Jordan Tatum 2 Aerial Powers PE is a dark olive green trainer with woodland camouflage print on the upper. A special “for dad” dubrae is incorporated on the laces, and the Jumpman and Tatum logos are highlighted in bright red.
With their victory, the Celtics take a 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals. They’ll play the Pacers again tomorrow night in Indiana, where Boston hopes to complete the sweep and advance to the Finals. The Western Conference will be represented by either the Dallas Mavericks or Minnesota Timberwolves.
Other notable Jordan Tatum 2 collaborations include one with Deadstock Coffee, a sneaker-themed coffee establishment.
This PE pair is unlikely to be released in stores, but fans can shop other Jordan Tatum 2 models starting at $125 on Nike.com.
