Following the official confirmation of Kylian Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid on Monday, Cristiano Ronaldo offered the Frenchman a message of support. Mbappe leaves PSG on a free transfer and signs a five-year deal with the Spanish powerhouses that will pay him £12.8 million a year after taxes.
Following Madrid’s formal announcement, the World Cup winner took to Instagram, posting a number of pictures of himself as a child wearing Madrid jersey and declaring that his dream had come true. Among the photos was one of Mbappe when he was still at Real Madrid, posing with Ronaldo. Ronaldo, who is widely regarded as the best player in the team’s history, quickly remarked on Mbappe’s post.
It’s my time to observe, he wrote. “#HalaMadrid, I can’t wait to see you light up the Bernabeu.”
Within a few hours, Ronaldo’s remark received over 300,000 likes, showing that supporters were appreciating the respectful moment between the two guys.
When Mbappe was younger, Ronaldo was his idol, and his bedroom walls were adorned with images of the Portuguese player.
“A dream come true, so happy and proud to join the club of my dream @realmadrid,” the 25-year-old wrote in an Instagram post.
“Nobody can comprehend my current level of excitement.” Madridistas, I can’t wait to meet you. I appreciate all of your amazing support. Hala Madrid!
