LeBron James and his SpringHill Entertainment production company are expanding their television footprint, this time partnering with NBC on a new comedy series inspired by the life of Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons.
Titled “Brotherly Love,” the show will delve into the sibling dynamics of a multi-ethnic family chasing their respective dreams against the backdrop of Philadelphia’s sports-crazed culture. Veteran TV producer Kourtney Kang, known for hits like “How I Met Your Mother” and “Fresh Off the Boat,” will executive produce alongside James and SpringHill co-founder Maverick Carter. Simmons and his brother Sean Tribe are also set to serve as consulting producers, lending an authentic firsthand perspective.
While the project is currently just a script order, the pedigree of talent involved and potential penalties for not progressing the show to series make it a strong bet to reach the pilot stage and potentially air on NBC’s lineup. This latest venture further bolsters the growing portfolio of SpringHill Entertainment, which has recently launched the talk show “The Shop” on HBO and has an upcoming Showtime documentary series “Shut Up and Dribble” exploring athletes’ roles in social and political discussions.
