Jaylen Brown is the 2024 Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP. On Monday, the Boston Celtics defeated the Indiana Pacers 105-102, completing the series sweep.
Brown led the Celtics in the series, averaging around 30 points per game. In Game 4, he was the key offensive force, scoring 29 points in Boston’s comeback.
However, the outcome was incredibly close, with Brown’s Boston Celtics teammate, Jayson Tatum, garnering four votes to Brown’s five.
Reactions to who should receive the award are flooding in, and Celtics fans appear to be as divided as the media.
Michael Gallagher: “I think Tatum should have won, but Jaylen was excellent. Massive passes, rebounds, and defensive plays all came in succession. There are a few dubious voting records here, though.
B. Aull: “I’m totally cool with JB winning this, but in 2022, Bontemps supported Butler in a losing endeavour, and now this is…Well, I can tell guys that get out of bed early to despise themselves every day.
Jonathan Von Tobel: “It’s unbelievable how close it was.” Tatum’s argument was weak. Voting for Tatum shows how indolent these voters are.
“Did PJ, Dustin, John, and Dennis watch the same game?” asked Missy.
Cash: “How many of these individuals have a resume from Hoop? Increase the number of basketball players.
“People arguing, JB has the advantage for game 1 shot and game 2 40 piece,” said Bagglio Ordonez. The pass to Horford at the conclusion of game three was the clearest example of JT’s exceptional efficiency. He was also extremely reliable on the glass and made several clutch shots. knew Jrue wouldn’t receive a vote, but he still deserved one
Jack: “I think Tatum should have won, but Jaylen also deserved it; it doesn’t really matter, just get 18.”
Raf: “They should just pick out 30 individuals from Southie and let them compete for the opportunity to choose the prize, rather than allowing media members to vote for the Celtics playoff accolades. Similar to a Bruins game, but only with the excitement
