Jude Bellingham posed with his teammates in front of Real Madrid’s new home uniform for the 2024–25 season.
After completing Kylian Mbappe’s signing on Monday night, the Spanish powerhouses have been the buzz of the transfer window, finally putting an end to one of football’s longest-running stories.
The announcement follows the World Cup winner’s decision to play at the Santiago Bernabeu, fulfilling a childhood goal, rather than signing a one-year contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain.
Prior to Mbappe’s first season in Spain, Real Madrid has unveiled the updated home uniform that he would don upon starting his career there.
Bellingham, Linda Caicedo, David Alaba, and Eder Militao were among the celebrities that appeared for photos wearing the new uniform, which has a striking houndstooth design.
The kit offers a minimalistic look that speaks to the long-lasting legacy of the Spanish giants, as they head into a new era of the club lead by Mbappe.
Remarkably, the shirt also has a V-neck collar that is appropriate for the season and subtle black accents that are interwoven with the adidas emblem.
Fаns mаy purchаse the оfficiаl editiоn оf the new shirt fоr £148 оn the club website, while the nоn-аuthentic versiоn cоsts £97.
Though it has not been officially confirmed by the club, it is expected that Mbappe will take the No 9 shirt when he joins Madrid later this summer.
It’s claimed that Mbappe and his camp didn’t ask Real Madrid to get the No 10 shirt, due to his respect for Luka Modric.
James Rodriguez and Mesut Ozil wore the No. 10 throughout Modric’s first five seasons at Real Madrid. He has been wearing it since the 2017–18 campaign. He had been sporting the No. 19 shirt up until 2017.
The Croatian midfielder, now 38, was set to be out of contract this summer, before he signed a new one-year contract on a lower salary.
Unlike Toni Kroos, who will retire after this summer’s European Championship, Modric has chosen to stay at the club despite accepting a more supporting role this season.
But he would be following in the footsteps of some legendary players who have graced the Santiago Bernabeu by donning the No. 9.
The most recent player to wear the shirt, is his former French international team-mate Karim Benzema – who represented the number for 13 years between 2010 and 2013.
Before that, Cristiano Ronaldo wore the shirt during his first season at the club.
The Portuguese star, now at Al-Nassr, found himself in a similar situation to Mbappe now, as he didn’t take his preferred No 7 shirt due to his respect for Real Madrid legend Raul.
The Spanish striker left in 2010, opening up the opportunity for Ronaldo to then take the No 7. .
