Vinicius Jr. has signed a new four-year contract extension with Real Madrid, the Spanish La Liga giants confirmed on Tuesday. The deal will keep the Brazilian international at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2027.
Vinicius joined Real Madrid in 2018 at just 18 years old and has since made 235 appearances for the club, scoring 63 goals and winning 9 major trophies, including 2 La Liga titles. He scored the winning goal when Real beаt Liverpool in the 2022 Champions League final to capture their 14th European Cup.
This season, Vinicius has 3 goals in 10 games across all competitions. However, his time at Real Madrid has also been marred by incidents of racist abuse directed at him. In the latest such incident, he was allegedly subjected to racial slurs as he was being substituted in Real’s 2-1 win over Barcelona on Saturday. La Liga has stated that an investigation has been initiated and they will press charges against those responsible for the racist behavior.
