Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Milwaukee Bucks’ superstar, is an amazing athlete who ranks among the best in the game today. The two-time NBA MVP and 2021 NBA Finals MVP frequently demonstrates his supernatural abilities. However, when he’s at the free-throw line, Antentokounmpo’s game can slow down more than Gary the Snail.
Antetokounmpo has committed numerous 10-second violations throughout his career. Furthermore, earlier this year, during a Bucks-Nuggets game, Denver Nuggets announcers mocked Giannis for being late to the free throw line. The pattern remained over the last weekend. When the Milwaukee Bucks hosted the Atlanta Hawks in Georgia, the Hawks’ analysts did not hesitate to join in the fun.
With his Bucks trailing 31-28, Antetokounmpo stepped to the line to shoot free throws. Naturally, Giannis took his time with it. The Hawks announcers decided it was time to have some fun.
“If you brought a book with you to the game, you could probably read a couple of chapters waiting for Giannis at the line,” Hawks TV commentator Bob Rathbun quipped. “Next free throw? 15 minutes,” he went on to add after Giannis sank them.
Giannis is unlikely to modify his methods at the line, but it will be interesting to see if announcers continue to make jokes about it. As with any ongoing joke, there is always the potential of overreacting at times. With that said, Rathbun made a funny comment here.
