PHIL FODEN believes that his two customised shinpads, which showcase a picture of his social media sensation son Ronnie, will serve him well for the rest of his career. The 24-year-old striker for Manchester City has guards underneath his socks that are pictures of him and his son on his shoulders, with both of them sporting team uniforms next to an England flag.

Foden Sr. clarified on the FA programme Lions’ Den, saying, “Someone made these for me on Instagram.”

“My lucky shinpads are these.” I carry them around all the time. I hope they hold up since I want to wear them for the whole of my professional career.

Foden appeared on the show with his teammate Conor Gallagher, who disclosed that he examines a special item before every game.

According to the 24-year-old Chelsea midfielder, “My parents bought me a necklace for my 21st birthday a couple years ago. I always read the engraving on the back of it before heading out. It’s a little bit sentimental!

“I no longer wear my personalised shinpads because they didn’t feel as nice as they once did.”

Like the rest of the group, Gallagher and Foden have been having fun with a range of games at England’s camp located amidst the rolling hills of Blankenhain, including PlayStation, padel, and basketball.

But Foden, who loves to fish, has also made time to grab his pole.
