After referee Sandro Scharer cautioned Cristiano Ronaldo for an incident that he believed should have resulted in a penalty for Portugal, Ronaldo was anything but delighted

Cristiano Ronaldo recalls the EURO 2024 group stage with regret. In what could be his sixth and final appearance, CR7 is putting in a lot of effort to score more goals to improve his record. Despite the Portuguese team scoring five goals in the last three games, Ronaldo has not scored a goal for himself.

Ronaldo was kept on the pitch during the match against Georgia in the final round of the group stage, even though coach Martinez made multiple substitutions. Even still, Ronaldo’s day wasn’t all that great. He had three shots in his 66 minutes on the pitch, but he was unable to score.

Notably, Ronaldo had some unfavourable thoughts after this game. In the twenty-first minute, Ronaldo and Antonio Siva worked together to receive Felix’s cross. Ultimately, Antonio Siva threw the ball in front of his senior incorrectly. Ronaldo took his frustration out on the 20-year-old Portuguese centre defender. Just after that, in the 28th minute, Ronaldo received a yellow card.

After coach Roberto Martinez left the pitch in the 66th minute, CR7 let out his frustration once more. On the route to the challenging area, CR7 threw away a water bottle. The five-time Golden Ball winner then took a seat in the team room and let out his fury. It’s unclear if Ronaldo was angry at himself for missing opportunities or at coach Martinez for benching him in the 66th minute.

Ronaldo still has the record for most goals scored in the EURO championships with 14. However, CR7 is eager to enhance his scoring performance.
