Liverpool has received an incredibly promising answer from Real Madrid following reports that they are interested in signing Arda Guler – but any move to bring the breakout Euro 2024 star to Anfield is subject to two crucial caveats, it has been reported.
A new era at Anfield has begun, with Slot taking over from Jurgen Klopp, whose glorious near-nine-year tenure ended at the end of last season. Slot, who won seven major titles at Liverpool, will take over a star-studded side that is used to winning but has recently dropped behind Premier League leaders Manchester City and Arsenal.
With Slot now installed in his new office within the boundaries of their cutting-edge Kirkby training center, work is already starting to determine how Liverpool can not only close the deficit but also build on the solid foundations Klopp established.
Of course, with any new management comes fresh ideas, and TEAMtalk can disclose that, given funds available, Slot intends to make at least two – and possibly five – fascinating new signings this summer.
Their aim will be to sign a new centre-half, preferably one who can also cover left-back. And, while Leny Yoro remains a player of great interest, Slot and Co will have to be patient, as the Lille teenager has made it clear that he prefers a move to Real Madrid.
Liverpool, on the other hand, could land a more urgent option in Nottingham Forest’s Murillo, with the Tricky Trees’ PSF problems reportedly forcing a low-cost sale to Anfield on Tuesday.
