Ethan, the younger brother of Kylian Mbappe, departed Paris Saint-Germain after joining a new team, following in his brother’s footsteps.
It is Ethan’s first professional deal, moving away from Parc des Princes as he seeks ‘to further his career’ and break off from his superstar brother’s shadow.
Earlier this summer, Kylian Mbappe signed a free transfer from PSG after six years to join Real Madrid, realising a childhood dream of his own.
On a three-year deal, the younger Mbappe joined Lille and claims it was the correct move for his future.
The 17-year-old midfielder stated, “For me, at my age, staying in France was the best option to progress,” as the Ligue 1 team made the announcement.
It’s a true honour to be able to play here, and I’m looking forward to embarking on this experience and getting to know my new teammates, the staff, and the supporters.
While Ethan Mbappe and Kylian joined PSG in 2017, the latter has primarily played in the youth lineup under a youth contract.
He has only made five appearances for Les Parisiens during that period, thus his move to Lille is a chance for him to establish himself in the professional game.
He will play for Les Dogues wearing the No. 29 jersey, and he will try to gain favour with head coach Bruno Genesio at Stade Pierre-Mauroy as soon as possible.
