England’s players made a splash on their rest day, but Phil Foden stole the show with his incredible ball abilities.
Gareth Southgate’s squad was still on cloud nine after defeating Switzerland on penalties on Saturday.
The Three Lions will face the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 semi-finals on Wednesday, following another comeback victory.
Breel Embolo appeared to have won it for Switzerland when he broke the deadlock with 15 minutes remaining.
However, Bukayo Saka’s magnificent effort squared the game, sending it to extra time, but neither team was able to break through, forcing a shootout.
Jordan Pickford’s bottle research saved Manuel Akanji’s penalty kick before Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Saka, and Ivan Toney converted.
That left Trent Alexander-Arnold to come up to win it, and the Liverpool star made no mistakes in securing a 5-3 shootout victory, with Luke Shaw receiving praise for his reaction to the key kick.
Before the spotlight shifts to the Dutch, England’s heroes rested and recovered at their base on Sunday.
Saka, who celebrated the shootout by waving his hands in the air, remained cheerful as he participated in the pool practice.
But Foden couldn’t resist doing some ball practice while swimming, demonstrating that he is equally adept with his head as he is with his feet.
The Manchester City ace brilliantly headed a ball into a poolside window and even threw in one or two shoulders, appearing to be having a great time.
One fan responded to the clip of him published by the England Instagram account with a love heart emoji and the caption: “My face when I saw Phil, this has made my day.”
While another stated, “Foden’s ball control is next level.”
Another person quipped that he “looked like a seal doing tricks” in there.
