Adrien Rabiot, a midfielder for France, has acknowledged that Kylian Mbappe, a teammate, is going through a “rough” moment at Euro 2024.
Even though he is one of the best players in the world of football, Mbappe has only scored once in his first four tournament games—a penalty against Poland.
The fact that Mbappe had to wear a mask in later games due to a broken nose he sustained in France’s first group game against Austria hasn’t helped his cause.
Despite his extensive experience, one of the most well-known figures on the French side, Antoine Griezmann, has also had difficulty making an impression in Germany.
Proposals have surfaced suggesting that the 33-year-old would not start Tuesday’s semi-final matchup against Spain.
The rest of the France squad, according to Rabiot, will back Mbappe and Griezmann wholeheartedly.
Rabiot stated, “This is a team game and even if they are having some troubles, we have reached the semi-final,” as The Mirror reported. Winning as a team is more significant than as an individual, and team spirit is crucial.
“We fully support Kylian and Antoine, even though their legs may not be as fresh as they could be.” We trust them without question. Players have the ability to alter the game at any time. It’s okay if Antoine or the captain [Mbappé] are going through a difficult time; we are here to help.
Rabiot acknowledged that the team has been impacted by Mbappe and Griezmann’s troubles.
In his five games at Euro 2024 thus far, Griezmann has not yet scored a goal or assisted another player.
However, it would undoubtedly be simpler if Kylian and Antoine were performing at the highest level, which hasn’t happened yet, according to Rabiot. Everyone is probably shocked because we all know how capable Griezmann is.
“We witnessed his performance during the previous World Cup, which may have been his best.” I’m not sure how to explain this spell; perhaps he’s not feeling well physically. Since Antoine is capable of much more, it goes without saying that we have [great] hopes for him. But without a great Antoine, can we still win? We have a very talented group.
In the quarterfinals, France defeated Portugal on penalties, but they will undoubtedly need to perform at their highest level to defeat a strong Spain squad.
Rabiot, who was suspended for the match against Portugal, will be looking to get back into the starting lineup for France against Spain.
