Stephen was previously announced to have been selected as the host of this year’s ESPYS last month.

He issued a statement to express via ESPN that he ‘never imagined I’d have the privilege of hosting this special event.’

The athlete added: ‘I look forward to delivering an exciting show for the fans while we celebrate the athletes who created the top moments of the year.’

Stephen later spoke to Complex and told the media outlet that he asked a few of his friends for advice about hosting a show.

‘I’m nervous and excited. I don’t really know what to expect. I actually tapped into Drake and Peyton Manning on what it’s like but I think once I get out there, I’m just going to have fun,’ he said.

The basketball player also discussed the possibility of putting on a performance during the show.

‘All of that is likely to show up in some shape or form. That’s kind of what it’s about, just having fun. But you have to obviously make sure there’s some surprise element and stuff to keep everybody watching on their toes,’ he said.
