Stephen Curry’s Extraordinary Graduation: Jersey Retirement Tribute Honours Milestone at Davidson College in an Intimate Ceremony

When the Golden State Warriors star visited his alma mater, Davidson College, on Wednesday, he was once again the talk of the town.

During his visit, the North Carolina college retired the athlete’s jersey and held a solo graduation ceremony in honour of Curry, who attended the school from 2006 to 2009. Thirteen years after leaving college to enter the NBA draft, the 34-year-old graduate finished his degree in May. Curry was given his diploma—a Bachelor of Arts in sociology—by Davidson.

Curry was recognised for his physical prowess in addition to his academic accomplishments, as Davidson retired his No. 30 jersey during the celebration on Wednesday.

Curry is the first player at Davidson College to have their jersey retired, according to WBTV.

Davidson enlisted the entire school’s community for the event, with thousands attending Curry’s one-man graduation ceremony. The NBA MVP was joined by family and friends to celebrate the major milestone, including his father Dell Curry, who took the podium on Wednesday. “This is awesome, man,” Dell said at the podium. “This is good stuff here. Coach, this might be the best day ever to be a Wildcat!”
