Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Warriors, led Team USA me𝚗’s basketball to victory on Saturday.
After years of stating his desire to take home a gold medal, Stephen Curry has finally become an Olympic champion.
After the dagger, Curry famously struck the “night night” pose, finishing the game with eight 3-pointers and 24 points, four of which came in a two-minute stretch in the fourth quarter.
For their sixth consecutive gold, Team USA defeated the host team, France, 98-87.
With this victory, Curry became the fifth NBA player in history to win two MVP awards, four NBA Championships, and an Olympic gold medal. He now stands beside Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James.
In addition, he joins current teammate Draymond Green, former Warriors Kevin Durant, Chris Mullin, and Klay Thompson as the only other Golden State players to earn a gold medal with Team USA.
In addition, Durant created history by being the first male basketball player to win four gold medals.
Together with the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State is one of three NBA teams whose players have won five individual Olympic gold medals with Team USA while they were members of the squad.
