If Aaron Ramsdale leaves Arsenal this summer, The Athletic believes the club will look to deal for Espanyol’s Joan Garcia.

The Gunners are looking to rebuild their squad after going more than 20 years without a Premier League title.

Although Mikel Arteta’s team has yet to sign anyone, if Ramsdale departs, they are apparently seeking for a left defender, midfielder, striker and goalkeeper.

Arsenal is after Joan Garcia.

Several players are expected to leave the Emirates, with Arsenal considering bids for Emile Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson.

Ramsdale falls into that category after losing his starting spot to David Raya last season; Arsenal aim to permanently relocate the Spaniard to north London.

The 26-year-old made only 11 appearances in all competitions last season, six of which were in the Premier League; he could benefit from a move away from Arsenal to start his career.

Although the England international was heavily linked with a move to Newcastle, the Magpies have instead signed Greek international Odysseas Vlachodimos from Nottingham Forest.
If Ramsdale leaves, the Athletic has notified the Gunners that Espanyol’s Garcia will be available as a backup.

The 23-year-old, who reportedly has a €25 million release clause in his contract, is currently the Spanish club’s second choice behind Fernando Pacheco.

Garcia is almost guaranteed to play for Spain in the Olympics; he preserved eight clean sheets in 14 appearances for Espanyol last season, as they were promoted back to La Liga.

According to The Athletic, Ramsdale is disgruntled with his position as number two and will almost surely leave if an offer comes close to the £24 million they paid Sheffield United in 2021.
