Chelsea are rumored to be considering an unexpected deal for Jadon Sancho, which could involve sending a player to Manchester United as part of the transaction. According to Sky Sports, negotiations between the two clubs are underway with the transfer window closing on Friday. Di Marzio reports that United is eyeing Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell.
Whether a deal can be finalized in time remains uncertain. Sancho was omitted from United’s squad in their recent defeat to Brighton, despite seeming to have mended fences with manager Erik ten Hag after his return from Borussia Dortmund. His previous issues appeared resolved when he participated in the Community Shield, though he missed a penalty in the shootout against Manchester City.
Manchester United is prepared to sell Sancho if the offer is right, and Chelsea is currently leading the chase. The Blues have already invested significantly in new attackers, including Pedro Neto and Joao Felix, and are still on the lookout for a top striker like Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. With Sterling having been told to seek new opportunities and training separately, Chelsea might include him in a potential swap deal for Sancho.
In addition, left-back Ben Chilwell, who is also training away from the main squad, could be another player United might consider, especially given Luke Shaw’s recent injury. United is also thought to be interested in center-back Trevoh Chalobah, but Newcastle is also pursuing him following their unsuccessful bids for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.
Juventus is also pursuing Sancho and is looking to secure him on loan. However, United’s preference for a permanent deal might give Chelsea an advantage if they are aiming for a long-term arrangement.
