Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on his personal page that Manchester United has agreed to sign Mali teen sensation Sekou Kone.
Manchester United has been actively engaging in the summer 2024 transfer market, especially in the final days. The Red Devils have already secured the signing of midfielder Manuel Ugarte for €60 million, who is currently in England for a medical examination before officially joining the squad at Old Trafford.
Although Manuel Ugarte has yet to be officially introduced, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United has agreed to a deal with Mali teenager Sekou Kone. Romano posted on X:
“All the paperwork is ready for Mali talent Sekou Kone, born in 2006, to complete his move to Manchester United. From what I understand, United has signed all the documents, and the deal will be announced within the next 24 hours. A deal for the future.”
United has acquired the 18-year-old from Guidars FC. Sekou Kone had also attracted interest from Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton, and Red Bull Salzburg, but ultimately Manchester United secured his signature.
Kone made a strong impression representing Mali at the U17 World Cup last year. Although Mali was eliminated by France in the semifinals, Kone received significant praise for his composed performances in midfield. He played a key role in helping Mali secure third place by defeating Argentina in the third-place playoff.
