Galatasaray is reportedly interested in securing Casemiro on loan from Manchester United.
The midfielder was substituted at halftime during United’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, having been involved in both of Liverpool’s first-half goals. The 32-year-old was replaced by 20-year-old Toby Collyer.
Turkish giants Galatasaray are now considering offering Casemiro a chance to move, if he is open to it.
With the Super Lig transfer window remaining open until September 13, journalist Ali Naci Kucuk reports that Galatasaray has approached Casemiro about a potential late transfer. They are believed to have initiated discussions with Manchester United regarding a season-long loan.
However, Manchester United may be hesitant to let Casemiro go without a suitable replacement. While Manuel Ugarte was signed on deadline day, manager Erik ten Hag has indicated that Ugarte may take months to regain full fitness. This situation would leave Kobbie Mainoo and the relatively inexperienced Collyer as the primary options for the defensive midfield role. Collyer did show promise during his brief appearance against Liverpool.
If Casemiro were to depart in the next nine days, United might look into the free agent market for a replacement. Adrien Rabiot is one potential candidate, but his age and past difficulties with his agent could complicate matters.
Premier League teams need to finalize their squad lists by September 13 but can still sign unattached players up until then.
Galatasaray has already made use of Turkey’s extended transfer window by signing Victor Osimhen on loan, following the collapse of his moves to Chelsea and Al-Ahli. The Nigerian striker received a warm welcome from enthusiastic fans upon his arrival in Turkey.
