Antony, the Manchester United winger who has had a challenging stint since his £85.5 million transfer from Ajax, might be given a new opportunity with Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce, according to recent reports. The 24-year-old Brazilian has faced difficulties at Old Trafford, registering only one goal and one assist in 29 Premier League matches last season. His cumulative record across all competitions stands at 11 goals and five assists in 83 appearances.
This season, Antony has been limited to just one minute of play in Manchester United’s first three Premier League fixtures, with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Amad Diallo currently ahead of him in the lineup. While the transfer window has closed in most of Europe, it remains open in Turkey until September 13.
Sport Witness reports that Mourinho’s Fenerbahce is eyeing a loan move for Antony, hoping to finalize the transfer by Wednesday evening. Mourinho, who joined Fenerbahce this summer, has already made additions including Youssef En-Nesyri, Caglar Soyuncu, and Allan Saint-Maximin.
The potential acquisition of Antony could further bolster his aim of leading Fenerbahce to their first league title since 2014.
In other news, Galatasaray, a rival of Fenerbahce, has secured a loan deal for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The 25-year-old Nigerian, who did not make a move to Chelsea or Saudi Arabia on Deadline Day, is now joining Galatasaray on a temporary basis.
