Arsenal and England winger Bukayo Saka has generously donated over 100 pairs of football boots to participants of the Street Soccer Academy, to be used on Football For Good Day this Sunday.
The boots, from Saka’s latest New Balance collection, will be worn by players competing in the Football For Good Day Trophy at the London Stadium. Known for his commitment to philanthropy and supporting young people with access to football and equipment, Saka’s donation aligns with his passion for giving back.
He made the donation after learning about the Street Soccer Academy’s efforts to address youth homelessness and assist young adults in finding employment and training through their flagship program.
Recently, the boots have been distributed to players from ten academies taking part in the five-a-side Football For Good Day Trophy. These teams represent various football club community organizations that have hosted academy courses for 18 to 30-year-olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Keith Mabbutt, Founder and CEO of the Street Soccer Foundation, expressed his appreciation:
“The young people are truly amazed—there’s a mix of disbelief, joy, and gratitude. They can’t believe Saka has supported them in this way. They’ll also get to keep the boots after the tournament, which they’re incredibly thankful for. It’s incredible to have the backing of the best young player in the country, especially for an organization dedicated to helping vulnerable and homeless youth.”
Football For Good is an initiative started by Keith Mabbutt and the Street Soccer Foundation, celebrating 50 years of the Commonwealth Youth Programme as part of the 2023 Year of Youth.
Participants in the Football For Good Day tournament come from ten Street Soccer Academies in partnership with organizations including West Ham United Foundation, Chelsea FC Foundation, Sheffield United Community Foundation, Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, Hull City’s Tigers Trust, Everton in the Community, Sunderland FC’s Foundation of Light, Leicester City in the Community, Liverpool’s LFC Foundation, and Salford City’s Foundation 92.
