Sydel Curry-Lee, the younger sister of NBA player Stephen Curry, is pursuing her own goals.

Sydel, the eldest of three siblings, was born in 1994 into a basketball-loving household. Her older brothers Stephen and Seth are both professional basketball players, while her father Dell Curry spent almost twenty years as an NBA player.

In 2020, the former college volleyball player told Togethxr, “People underestimating me is pretty much my life from the moment I started playing sports to the present.” She overheard her peers murmuring among themselves, “Oh, that’s Steph Curry’s sister,” as she strolled across her college campus.

Even though Sydel didn’t play basketball as her family did, she did play volleyball at Elon University from 2014 to 2016. Due to a dislocated knee cap, she had to redshirt her freshman year and began playing in 2014.

Sydel remembered how underappreciated she was in college, how some even questioned her ability. “You’re only here because of your family,” was one of the first things I ever heard when I was a volleyball player, I recall.

She recently discussed the vаlue оf mentаl heаlth аt Ferrum Cоllege in Mаrch 2023. “Tоdаy, I spоke with students аt @ferrum_cоllege аfter brushing up оn my speech аbilities! I wаs reаlly inspired by the strides being mаde in higher educаtiоn by creаting sаfe spаces where students mаy feel heаrd аnd seen in the cоurse оf their mentаl heаlth jоurneys,” the user stаted оn Instаgrаm.

While Damion Lee was a student at Drexel University and Sydel was at Elon University, they met at a collegiate basketball game. Damion Lee plays for the Phoenix Suns. Sydel is now married to him.

She said to Munaluchi Bride, “He was walking up the stairs, I was sitting in the stands, and we kind of made eye contact.” They went on several dates and exchanged direct messages before calling it quits as a relationship.

On September 1, 2018, the couple tied the knot in Charlotte, North Carolina. While his kids were flower girls, Steph’s wife Ayesha was her matron of honour.

On Instagram the day following the nuptials, Sydel posted pictures and a heartfelt message for her husband: “I can’t express how much I adore this man, but I get to live my life telling him that every day! I am very grateful to everyone, but for now, I just need to celebrate that I have found my true love, we are now a couple, and I am now Mrs. Lee!

Sydel only gave PEOPLE access to images of her nursery prior to Daxon’s birth. Her husband said, “It’s a great space for us to get away from all the distractions of the outside world and focus on our baby.” “We want this to be his place of solace, a safe space for him to rest and feel at home,” she said.
